Father's Day, 2013 marked the inaugural
Kicks 101 event in Dallas. Sneakerheads from all over North Texas ditched their dads, and their dad issues, to flock to the hip-hop/street art/sneaker and gear summit in sunny South Oak Cliff.
Featured vendors like Sleepy Dan, Dream State, The High Class, YAOTL, Fly Mouth Pimpn, 52 Aces, Pink Elephants, and Hvn Bouse were in attendance and were showcasing their summer releases.
Blacksheep Original jumped in an added a second wave to their Summer, 2013 release with a fresh line of kicks-inspired pocket tees and the new "That Big D" black shirt.
The event also featured performances by Dallas-based artists B. Hardy, J. Rhodes and DJ sets by K104's DJ Hollywood, Zubar's DJ MUTEMOR, and KNON's DJ El Niño.
Vendors and attendees alike were able to buy, sell and exchange kicks as well as ideas throughout the day. This under-served, artistic community of shoe enthusiasts is gaining followers as well as an important foothold in the city…and that, like originality, is to be celebrated.
